If you've been on social media lately, you've seen it: capybaras wearing tiny hats, capybaras in hot tubs, capybaras holding oranges, capybara keychains, capybara phone stands. The animal has become the internet's go-to "desk companion" — famous for being the calmest creature in the animal kingdom, getting along with pretty much everything (even alligators).
Where to find a capybara STL
You don't need to model one yourself — search "capybara" on:
- Printables — the widest free selection, including print-in-place (fully articulated, no assembly) versions
- Thingiverse — the classic source, from simple figures to hat-and-orange variants
- Cults3D — more detailed designs, some paid, from independent artists

Which printer to use
A capybara figure is small with no real structural demands — any decent FDM printer handles it. If you want a multi-color version (patchy fur look) without manual filament swaps, an AMS-equipped printer makes it effortless:
- Bambu Lab A1 — fast, great detail for miniatures like this one
- AMS 2 Pro — if you already own a Bambu Lab printer without AMS, this upgrade lets you print a multi-color capybara in a single pass
Print settings that work well
- Layer height: 0.12–0.16mm to capture fur and facial detail
- Supports: only under real overhangs (belly, chin) — most print-in-place designs are already optimized to need little or none
- Infill: 10–15% is plenty for a decorative piece
- Filament: PLA is the right call here — easy to print, good color, no need for a hot bed. A solid option is Bambu Lab's own PLA Lite.
